FRONTIER DAYS FOUNDATION PRESENTS CHECK TO RESERVE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA

Walla Walla, WA – On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, the Frontier Days Foundation Board along with the Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days Board presented a donation check to Reserve Organization of America members to support their Veteran Headstones Project.

As part of the Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days desire to give back to the community, 50 cents from each sold ticket from the Friday night (Tough Enough to Wear Pink) and Sunday night (Military Appreciation) rodeo performances goes to local non-profits. A check in the amount of $1,277.50 was presented to Reserve Organization of America as the chosen local non-profit to receive monies from the 2021 Sunday night rodeo performance.

“Each year we partner with a deserving local organization that works to give back to the WW Valley. The Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days Rodeo is proud to support the Reserve Organization of American in their endeavors to restore headstones in our community,” said Charlie Barron, Rodeo Director of Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days Board.

The Reserve Organization of America is the exclusive advocate for the Reserve and National Guard. At the National level ROA is focused on issues which promote the development and execution of a legislative agenda that ensure adequate security through a strong Military Reserve Component.

At the local level, the Walla Walla Chapter of the ROA works to Honor Those Who Served through their signature project known as the Veteran Headstones Project. Teams of volunteers can be found cleaning headstones and bronze markers which mark the place where those who have served are buried. In collaboration with the City of Walla Walla the ROA is replacing headstones which have been weathered by time and nature.

“ROA encourages citizens of the Walla Walla Valley to join with the ROA to never forget those who have served by donating time to clean headstones and improving the appearance of the areas where our Veterans have been laid to rest,” said Lonnie Mettler Board Member of the Reserve Organization of America.
